St. Mary, Jamaica — July 15, 2025
It was a day of discovery, pride, and promise as the HEART/NSTA Trust hosted its annual World Youth Skills Day Expo, bringing together aspiring young professionals from across the island for a dynamic showcase of Jamaica’s technical and vocational excellence.

Among the highlights was the Hon. Custos Rotulorum taking a hands-on look at the cutting edge of mobility — literally. With curiosity and admiration, he examined the inner workings of an electric vehicle on display, a symbol of the country’s drive toward innovation and sustainability. His visit underscored the growing relevance of green technologies in Jamaica’s evolving skills economy.

But the spotlight belonged squarely to the youth. From electrical installations sparking with precision to gourmet plates crafted with culinary finesse, students from HEART/NSTA Trust institutions demonstrated their mastery of industry-ready skills across sectors — including engineering, hospitality, information technology, and more.

“The energy in the room was electric — not just from the car, but from the passion these students bring to their craft,” said one attendee. “You could see their dedication, and it gave us hope for the future of Jamaica.”

World Youth Skills Day, observed annually by the United Nations, recognises the importance of equipping young people with the skills needed for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. This year’s expo went above and beyond, showing not only the talents of Jamaica’s youth but their readiness to lead.

As the country continues to invest in workforce development, events like this serve as powerful reminders that Jamaica’s greatest resource is its people — especially its rising generation of skilled professionals who are building a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
